Sunday, September 27, 2020, The Multiplication of Stube HEMAT in Lampung with 28 students and the participants of ‘Piil Pensenggiri’ discussion visited the indigenous Lampung community in Gedung Wani village, Marga Tiga district, East Lampung regency, which 100% of the population is native Lampung. This village is located approximately 90 kms from Bandar Lampung, and approximately 30 kms from Metro. This area can be reached by private vehicle or public transportation because of its location on the main road that connects villages, districts and regencies. Most part of the road are tarmac road and some are damaged so that it limits the vehicle speed only 40-60 kms per hour. For this travel, Stube HEMAT program facilitated the participants by renting a 30-passengers bus and the trip itself took about 1,5 hours.
During
the event, the direct interaction with the indigenous Lampung ethnic is well
managed by Nursaidi Cakra Dinata, a figure for Lampung traditional harmony in
East Lampung regency and several local village leaders. The participants were
encouraged to get to know closely the customs and traditions of the Lampung
ethnic, even the participants were invited to talk with some Lampung ethnic
people in the traditional house, called ‘Nuwo Sesat.’ Here, the participants
were warmly welcomed by the leaders of this village. This house of ‘Nuwo Sesat’
is about 96 years old, built since 1924, however, all hard wood materials were
still strong, not weathered or not consumed by wood pests. This house is
inherited from the founding figure of the village in Gedung Wani and is
occupied by his 27th generation. This house is built as a stage house where the
upper floor is usually used to hold meeting by community leaders to carry out traditional
wedding rituals or to resolve problems in the community.
Further, the participants were asked to tell their responses and impression for being in the indigenous village of the Lampung ethnic and ‘Nuwo Sesat’ for the first time. From several expressions conveyed, most stated that they felt afraid, hesitant, fear and so on. However, the situation melted because of the hospitality of the village leaders and the traditional harmony figure welcomed them friendly and warm. This welcome is part of ‘Piil Pasenggiri’ (be ashamed of doing despicable work and breaking religion rules, and be firm to have dignity), additionaly in relationship, the Lampung ethnic keeps the principle of ‘Juluk-Adok’ (having personality according to the customary title), ‘Nemui-Nyimah’ (visiting each other to keep in touch and welcoming guests), ‘Nengah-Nyampur’ (be active in social interaction and not individualistic).
From the dialogue the participants learned understood well how the tradition of Lampung about self-esteem that were taught since childhood among Lampung ethnic family. The visit ended at 15.00 WIB, and Nursaidi Cakra Dinata conveyed his impression, "I am very pleased with the visit of Stube HEMAT, which accompanies Christian students and church to get to know the customs and traditions of the Lampung ethnic. I emphasize once again that all people here are Lampung people!”
Before
leaving the building, the participants observed a historical large wooden door
that is as old as the house, called ‘Pintu Qori’, a door that should be passed
through, in order to gain true life by embracing the religion believed by
Lampung people. This valuable principles of ‘Piil Pasenggiri’ encouraged the
participants to live with Piil Pasenggiri more in their daily life, to provide
direction and guideline to be individuals who play good role and give
contribution for community development, especially in Lampung.
